Biography

I've been performing, recording and producing music for over 25 years. You can learn more about my music background here: natemartinezmusic.com

Over the course of the past decade my pursuit has broadened, and I began seeking out how music and, more importantly, how sound can dramatically shift our perspective, raise our consciousness, and even assist us in healing processes.

WE ARE ALL LOOKING FOR WAYS TO IMPROVE OUR HEALTH, FIND MORE BALANCE, AND ACQUIRE NEW PERSPECTIVE IN OUR LIVES AND MY GOAL IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR PATH TOWARDS WELLNESS.

I began NTM Sound in 2014 as a way to share my knowledge and experience with others and began offering sound therapy treatments to individuals and sound baths for the community. I started one of the first monthly sound bath programs in NYC at the Brooklyn Zen Center and, shortly thereafter, developed a program for Sky Ting where I was able to facilitate the experience and also begin to contribute to new conversations on how sound can be utilized as a way to explore meditation. Through these educational conversations I contributed to a greater awareness about what sound therapy is and its benefits, and became a driving force in the field. This has all been in service of helping people help themselves.

MY OBJECTIVE IS NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE A RELAXING ENVIRONMENT, BUT ALSO TEACH DAILY PRACTICES THAT YOU CAN DO ON YOUR OWN TO CONTINUE THE WORK WE'VE DONE TOGETHER.

Currently, I facilitate in-person and virtual workshops and sound baths for individuals, groups, organizations, and help contribute to wellness initiatives for companies like: Google, Unilever, and Nike among others. As a public speaker I specialize in topics related to deep listening and sound therapy as a pathway to mindfulness. I work as a composer of functional music and sound designer developing sound meditation content libraries for a range of companies and apps including Wthn, Sona, Mune, and Lyt, among others.

As a functional music composer I incorporate a range of techniques and disciplines to create works that provide the optimal listener experience, often with the end goal of creating a greater sense of calm, which can help the participant shift into a different state of being; call it flow state, a meditative state, or deep relaxation. The end result is a dynamic shift for the listener before and after.
